Heat is a form of energy travelling from higher to lower temperature – flowing outward in winter and inward in summer. Thermal comfort resists the flow of heat. Insulation refers to special materials that obstruct the conductivity between any two different surfaces. Heat is transferred from one material to another by conduction, convection and/or radiation and insulators are used to minimize that transfer of heat energy.
WHY WE NEED INSULATION?
Insulation is the building component which controls temperature directly affecting the movement of moisture to and from building spaces. It provides the principal resistance to air leakage. Insulation provides energy savings, condensation control, noise control and enhanced light reflectivity that will remain with the building over the life of the structure.
